Beauty

So something happened at the beginning of the year that halted my blogging.  Well, really a lot of things happened...  But one of those things I've been meaning to write about for over 6 months.  It made me reconsider beauty, and how important it is to this life.

December 31 Donna Stauffer's life ended, rudely and unexpectedly.  She was my drummer's mom, one of my biggest supporters, and my friend.

She loved beauty, anything that made life more than ordinary.  Later in life she started taking piano lessons, and learned how to make pottery.  She treasured music and art, and came to as many musical performances of mine as she could, almost always wearing a pair of earrings Aaron had made.

Andrew, her son said that through her life she added beauty to the world.  Each action, each piece of art, each note of music, each kind word, her very presence.  The essence of beauty.

We have a lot of choices in life.  We don't get to chose who we lose, or when or how.  But we do get to chose how we spend each day.  Donna inspired me.  I want to choose, like her, to add beauty to the world.

Easy on the Eyes...And on Your Wallet

An essential for every girl's accessory arsenal is a pair of every day earrings. Something that's subtle, but still makes a statement...

I was flipping through some photos online, and some just caught my eye. "Stunning" is the only word to describe them.

I love Cheryl Hines...c'mon, she totally rocked her roll in Curb Your Enthusiasm. And holy moly, she knows how to do herself up without being over he top. The simple black dress, the dramatic lashes, and those earrings! They perfectly frame her face and add just the right amount of sparkle.

Sharon Leal is a television actress as well as an amazing vocalist.  And, if I do say so myself, she has a flair for fashion.  The teardrop earrings bring out her smile and add class and sophistication to this look.

So what are my go to earrings?

The Triple Chain Earrings by Lehr Arts. They are made of Argentium® Silver, which is .935 purity, higher than traditional sterling's .925, and tarnish resistant, which means they look great without needing frequent polishing.  And, they're only $15!  Now whoever told you that you can't get something quality for a fair price was just lying.

Look at how they give me that little extra something something:

Be beautiful...

Halloween

Welcome to my blog!
This is my first post ever, so hopefully you'll find something entertaining and valuable in it :)

I absolutely love Halloween.  As a kid it meant dressing up and ingesting copious amounts of candy.  As an adult, I still have a penchant for dressing up, whether it's in a costume or just for a nice evening out.

This Halloween I went for a mystical look with obvious spooky overtones.  The centerpiece of my look: a Lehr Arts Jewelry creation, suspended yellow quartz with black diopside set in Argentium Silver®.

So what I really like about this piece is that it's elegant, almost miniature, and really makes a statement.

The quartz glows in the right light, and the tiger's eye iridescence of the black diopside perfectly complements it.

And, there are some very classy ladies that have made bold statements with jewelry from the same realm as this Lehr Arts piece.

Lauren Conrad, personality, designer, and author, on the cover of Elle:

This necklace definitely has spooky and whimsical overtones, adding flare to her simplistic look.

Rosario Dawson, actress, at the Whitney Museum of Art Biennial in NYC:

The centerpiece of her outfit is definitely the suspended quartz.  The elegant design really draws the eyes to the stone, highlighting its natural glow.
